Healing Well She Is!

Yes, Miss Hayleigh is progressing extremely well. She is taking her meds very well. We unfortunately had to add another med (Nystatin) for the Thrush she has. Thankfully we caught it early enough that she is not suffering too terribly bad. Sutures came out very nicely (thanks Michelle from DMC Children's) on Saturday afternoon and the wounds continue to heal. Her chest incision is looking very good as well. I think the healing up process is causing some itching. Every chance Hayleigh gets when her clothes or diaper is changed she goes to work scratching away at the steristrips and scabs. Practically takes 2 of us to change her.(1 to hold her hands while the other changes the clothes/diaper) Pain does not seem to be nearly as much an issue now. We are giving her Motrin 1-2 times a day. She lets us know when she needs it.

Grandma returned to California safely. We all enjoyed our time with her. We were able to get out to see a light house, walk downtown Rockford and shop at the Hush Puppy store. Grandma took plenty of pictures. Will try to post some or a link to the site to view them. The weather was outstanding while she was here!(except for the arrival date; got caught in that nasty storm w/ hail and drenching rain) Hope to see her again soon!

We surely wish that she would sleep better, WOWWY! Last night we were up every 1hr to 2hrs. We think it may be related to the thrush. I pray tonight we all get some much needed rest. We are scheduled to see Dr. Grifka (cardiologist at DeVos in GR) on Friday. Then we are off to the rehearsal dinner for Tony (my brother and Hayleigh's uncle). He is to wed Julie Worden on Saturday evening. I was given the honors of "best man". Hayleigh will be babysat by a good nurse friend of mine (Jason and his fiance Jane) for the wedding.

Thanks for continuing to pray us through.

Until next time...
