God is at work already! We beat the bad weather by about 15 minutes or so. When we first arrived there was no knowledge of our being admitted, but was quickly corrected! God put HIS fingerprint on this whole thing by placing us in RM#7407. (i know what does that really mean?) It is significant to me, because that was her original due date! She was born on 7/1/07. We are also on the 7th floor. Has to be better than 666, right? or being in room 13!
Tonight has been nothing but getting all the paperwork done, figuring out what foods and formula, size of diaper. Hayleigh has been nothing but amenable to the whole thing. We finally got most of the staff on the same page. We tucked her and Mommy in around 10:30 and here I am burning the midnight oil.
Tomorrow: we anticipate things ramping up. Hayleigh is expected to get the IV inserted to run blood work, we are trying to catch urine in a PUCK (like a ziplock bag w/ really sticky tape at the opening that she does not mind wearing, its the removing that does not really excite her a whole lot. OUCH!). She is going to have a Ear,Nose and Throat consult (ENT for short, now I understand why they abbreviated it). Probably the most concerning and test of interest for me is the Sweat test that will determine if she has Cystic Fibrosis. This autoimmune disorder essentially plugs up the lungs w/ thick mucus (congestion, cough) and effects the pancreas making digestion a trouble leading to poor weight gain. We will know same day on this test. The life expectancy on individuals w/ this disease is around the ages of 30-40 yrs. We are going to be visited by a Dietition as well. That about covers it, I think?
I want to thank everyone for your prayers, your encouragement and help through all of this. Thanks to all of you who surprised us w/ the care packages, cards and other valuable re$ource$. (smile) We will never be able to thank you enough.
Thanks and please check back soon! For now I say goodnight and GOD BLESS!
to be continued...
