Post Op Day 3: GOOD! Night

I am sooooo excited to report to all of you that Hayleigh Joy is off the ventilator!!!!!!!YEAH! Praise The Lord, Hallelujah, Amen!!! She looks so much more comfortable now that the tubes in her nose are out! She was awake and alert enough to begin blowing bubbles at all of us and smiling. My tears for fears (that sounds like a good name for a band! Hmmm?) have turned to tears of great joy. What a wonderful God I serve. HE is the Great Physician. Thank you, thank you and thank you all sooo much for the prayers and encouragement. It is such a wonderful thing to come back to our room from the hospital and read the comments and emails everyone is leaving. Keep them coming. It might be cutting it close but if you want to send physical(snail mail) we have a box here at the Ronald Mcdonald House. (3911 Beaubien - Detroit, MI 48201 Box #19)

Our 3 daughters made it safely down to see us w/ their wonderful nana and papa. We spent sometime together today at the science center for kids. Very nice to see them and be a family unit again. (Thanks to all my fantastic staff at MetroHealth Emergency Dept)

We anticipate having Haleigh on all oral meds tomorrow and quite possibly begin removing the tubes in her chest. Hopefully in a day or two we will be going to the step down unit and then home sweet home!

Well it is getting late here and we have another fun and exciting day tomorrow and the sooner I fall asleep the faster that day will come! May God richly bless all of you and I will leave you all with a wonderful quote from a book I was gifted by a co-worker (Chad) from Metro ED called, "101 Reasons Why God Made Dad's".

God made dad's because...Somebody needs to show us how to handle tough times:

"If we make our troubles an opportunity to learn more of God's love and His power to aid and bless, then they will teach us to have a firmer confidence in His providence. BILLY GRAHAM

Until next time...

My name is Amber Long and I was given this site information from Eric Long's (Merry's husband) mom. Hayleigh has been lifted in prayer by many people all around the world. It was wonderful reading the blessed news that Hayleigh is breathing on her own. You have a beautiful daughter and the spirit of the Lord truly shines in her eyes. The prayer chain will continue to pray for the Lord's healing of sweet Hayleigh, as well as, strength for your family. There are a few scriptures that reminded me of Hayleigh: "Before I made you in your mother's womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work." Jeremiah 1:5
"Through Christ, all of the kindess of God has been poured out upon us...and now he is sending us out around the world to tell all people everywhere the great things God has done...so they, too, will believe and obey him. Romans 1:5

May God Bless you all.
