Hayleigh was born with a congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot. She had a successful repair June 2008 of the whole between the lower ventricles of her heart and the narrowing was opened up to provide adequate blood flow to her lungs. October 2009 she was diagnosed with a rare syndrome called Smith Magenis Syndrome (sms).
