Finalizing things as we speak (I mean type) as far as final tests of the heart itself as she has been removed from bypass. Dr. Walters came to visit w/ us and after all the technical lingo finished by saying that, "if this were my child I would be very happy with the results". PRAISE GOD! Shout for JOY all u children of the Lord!! Mommy and I breathed a huge sigh of relief.
An amateur attempt to simplify the Medspeak we just received hopefully not Tim Allen style after talking to Mr. Wilson:
- Pulmonic valve slightly on the small side of normal, but has 3 leaflets that were functioning normal. Concern was they would be too thick, allow back flow of blood (leaky valve) or appear like "cauliflower" and none of that was found. Dr. Walters has every bit of confidence that her valve will continue to grow w/ her and most likely avoid replacement of her valve and for that matter never need heart surgery again. (can I get an amen?) Let me retype myself, NEVER NEED HEART SURGERY AGAIN! AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Was able to open above and below the valve for maximum inflow and outflow that will never be an issue.
- The only negative, but not really, is that she will have a gradient of 10-15% at the valve where we all have a 0% gradient. To simplify, pressure at the valve essentially. Tell u what if that doesn't suffice please feel free to google it! (smile) The reason it is not a 0% is that Tetralogy kids never achieve that, but to be as close to single digits is better.
Overall, Mommy and I are very, very pleased! She at this time is doing very well. Dr. Walters said that he was taking a break to speak w/ us and probably look at something besides hamburger(smile) or for u Michiganskers HAMBURG! (laugh). For you southerners, oh never mind!
Well praise God from whom ALL blessings flow! Thanks to all of you for praying us through, but don't let up we still have all the risks associated w/ recovery now! More updates to come. Like Dr. Walters in the surgical suite, I must close! (pun intended)
until next time...
