Safe Landing into PICU

She is doing great! Has not woke up (woken up for all u Michiganskers!) yet. They are waiting for her to begin showing signs of waking up before they medically induce a coma to allow her to rest. Need to be sure she is acting normal before they can sedate her.

The physicians and nurses continue to tell us she is doing very well. One exception is that she appears to have HIVES on her so working to figure out what she may be allergic to. Possibly the antibiotic from surgery. Might be the pain medicine too. We'll wait and see. They are watching her very close for the next 24-48hrs w/ 1:1 care. (a dedicated nurse all to herself)Very comforting for Mommy and I. We plan to get our strength by sleeping well the next couple of days. As the nurse in PICU put it we are "off duty" for the next 24-48hrs. Not to confuse that with "off worry"! (more r/t mommy)

I was a wreck while she was in surgery and now Michelle and I have reversed those roles. (must be the nurse in me) Pre-op everybody was worried about Hayleigh having separation anxiety so she got Versed, but I think the wrong person got it, it should have been me! I was a blubbering fool. I told everyone that would be the hardest thing for me and it was. Like I said it was truly the hardest thing I have ever endured in my life to this point. I was reminded of a couple of promises God in his word gave me: in Matthew Jesus promises to "give" me"rest" when I "come unto Him" and the other would have to be that "with Him all things are possible". His strength is perfect especially when my strength is gone!

Well I want to go back to see my little BOOBER and protect the staff from an overly protective mother. (smile)

Tonight, before I retire, I will post some pix from the PICU showing all the "stuff" Hayleigh has coming out of her body and the multiple IV lines and monitors. WOW!

Until next time...
