I don't have much time to spend tonight as I am EXTREMELY TIRED (3hrs sleep last night and on the eve of one of the biggest events of one's life, amen?) so I will be in rare form tonight and be brief and get to what all want to know. We arrived safely and on time (that's rare). Everything went smooth for all pre-op testing. We were able to get a nice room at the Ronald Mickey D's House. And as for:
MOMMY and DADDY: cautiously optimistic; resting in the loving arms of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ; we understand that this is absolutely necessary and are very grateful for being able to choose the surgery date unlike many others! The hardest moment for me tomorrow is when I will have to let my little BOOBER go away on the stretcher as I (ball my eyes out) will have to stop and realize she will have to keep going and fighting w/o me! (whew) We are most certainly comforted by all the prayers that will be offered up during this most difficult time; I can say w/ confidence that those prayers are felt!
HAYLEIGH: playful, smiling all the day long making everyone comment who comes in contact w/ her about how "happy" she is, how beautiful her "eyelashes" are; eating plenty of food as she won't be for the next couple of days.
Operation is scheduled to begin at 0830 est on June 26th and is expected to last approx. 4-6 hrs. We will get an update once when she is on the heart and lung machine, and two more times along the way w/ the 3rd time being w/ Dr. Walters when all is done. (please pray specifically for him) We will then go up to the PICU (pediatric Intensive Care Unit) to wait for about 1hr, then plan to be at her bedside.
She is expected to have an arterial line (an IV line in her artery to help monitor blood pressure every second) peripheral IV (what everyone admitted pt has) likely a central line placed in the external jugular, a foley catheter, her airway will be secured through her nose with a breathing tube and vent, up to 3 chest drains and be on the ventilator while being sedated for 1-2 days.
Well I'm tired. Enjoy a couple of new pix!
More to come soon!
Until next time...
